Birthday cakes have gotten more elaborate and artistic over the past few years. Sugar artist use a lot of techniques that were not used for cakes before. This is a fondant covered cake and it allows the decorator to add different textures and patterns that are 3D. The bottom tier is airbrushed with a dark purple and over sprayed with pearl. then green diamonds were cut out of fondant and applied with purple balls of fondant at each point of contact. The middle tier is airbrushed with gold and has green polka dots and purple balls. The top tier is green fondant with gold swirls and purple fondant. The cake topper is a feather mask.
